Bio:

  • Sara Ljungblad is Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Interaction Design and has been doing research in the area of Human Computer interaction and Human Robot Interaction for 20 years. She conducts interdisciplinary, contextual studies of robotic and autonomous systems, and has initiated Critical Robotics as a research movement, a methodology and design theory - inviting more critical perspectives in robotics. She is now setting out to explore more artistic research directions within this field, focusing on children’s rights and peace.
  • Thommy Eriksson – with a PhD. in Applied IT – teach and do research on digital media and its application in storytelling, teaching and for remote collaboration. His PhD. thesis from 2016 explored how virtuality is represented in fiction, primarily science fiction feature films, and since then Thommy has been doing research on virtual reality for education and for remote collaboration, as well as virtual companions and mental health. He is studio director for the Kuggen Medialab (research lab).

Abstract: Unfolding ethics, what is that? During this talk, Sara Ljungblad and Thommy Ericsson will each share a personal experience of an academic crisis point as a turning point in their respective research orientations, and how this impacted their work in a good way. This is a seminar about different research paths, and ethics and holistic perspectives.
